Life's a beach (East Attica before the fires)
Rafina is a small port town, just 30 km away from the busy and crisis-stricken city center of Athens. Is one of the few areas in Attica that hasn’t lost its authenticity and identity. It’s a holiday destination to some Athenians in the summer and a very busy place full of tourists who travel to nearby popular islands. I started photographing my neighborhood when I moved back to Greece, after living in the UK for 16 years. I felt misplaced and lost. But equally I was grateful for the beauty this little town had to offer. Taking walks around my neighborhood and being close to the sea, enabled me to feel more connected and grounded to my environment, to appreciate the little pleasures of life and the country I had chosen to live in.
